This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students are energetic, imaginative and creative 5 and 6-year-olds. They arrive at school eager to learn and ready for the challenges of the day!

I teach in an urban elementary school in which all students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.

I want to provide opportunities for channeling their energy when learning in a safe classroom environment. Having flexible seating options is one way to channel extra energy in a productive manner. This allows learning to continue, even with movement!

My Project

The flex space comfy floor seats will allow my enthusiastic beginning readers to have a safe and comfortable space to explore the joys of our classroom library. Sitting comfortably will encourage my kindergarteners to curl up with a book and explore the wonders of reading.

Having the flex space comfy floor seats will allow our classroom to utilize our classroom library more often.

The chairs will invite students to have a soft, snug, special place just for reading. This will make our classroom library a more inviting and enjoyable place to spend time with other students when discovering the joy of reading!
