Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are highly imaginative and driven children from a low socio-economic neighborhood of NYC. My students have special needs that impede their learning in a general education classroom and therefore participate in pull-out services. They are the most caring and creative kids I know and I try everyday to give back to them everything they teach me, always.
We are a Title I school (42% of the population is made up of students with disabilities) with staff and students who work very hard to provide our students with the love, support, independence, and differentiated education they deserve.
We work on all skills, from math to literature, social-emotional skills, and more. I have the privilege of working with range across six grade levels and therefore have very diverse skills and abilities.
My Project
This MacBook will allow us to have access to updates that we currently do not have access to. Everything that is planned, tracked, and created for these students happens on a computer. It is needed for data tracking, research of current techniques and varied abilities and disabilities, planning of the day-to-day and minute-to-minute, and the infinite number of things students and teachers need all will be assisted with this technology.
Students will have access to sites, apps, visual supports, and the infinite number of things the teacher will plan and print for them; bottom line, they'll have access to an multi-sensory education.
We have incredible students who will benefit greatly. Although this will directly reach about 40 students, it will have an effect on hundreds due to its use for the various committees and clubs I am a part of. We thank you, in advance, for your support in developing our future.
