My students need an iPad, a case to protect it that's easy to carry, and headphones that work on both sides with clear sound to access educational apps.
My students enter the room with a smile on their face every morning. They are sweet kind and happy kids. They love to try their best to learn. They like dancing and singing, too.
My students are from a diverse school culture that includes over 50% military and other backgrounds.
They love to reflect and see their academic growth consistently celebrating their successes as learners.
Although my students are in Special Education, I hold them to high standards and encourage them to be lifelong learners whether they choose to go to college or follow their other dreams.
My Project
My students currently don't have enough devices to access educational games and apps for independent work. I want all students to be able to access this so I know they are getting meaningful independent work that will help them grow as learners versus handing out "busy work" that is too easy for them and ultimately boring.
The headphones will give students access to hear these apps clearly to increase their understanding of the content area.
They currently use ones that only work on one side, sound muffled, and are uncomfortable due to wear and tear on the ear pieces.
Students will use the iPad and headphones to access games that are tailored to their individual level and educational needs. They will access games and apps that include mathematics, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension. Students will also use these supplies to research for writing book reports.
