Help me give my students access to scientific and fraction-capable TI-30Xa calculators and a method for checking them out inside of the classroom, so they all have the same tool to learn on through in-class modeling.

My Project

I will build a classroom set of TI-30Xa scientific and fraction-capable calculators with in-classroom storage so that ALL students can learn to use the tool properly. Many of my students do not have a calculator. Some do, but it is a basic 4-function calculator that does only basic operations, which causes challenges when my 6th graders start doing more complex calculations with fractions.

You're helping me to ensure technological equity for all students by not only providing access to calculators but to the same calculators.

Providing the same calculator will allow me to provide timely training on how to use the tool appropriately, through modeling of the same keystrokes for all students who are using the same tool. My hope is to remove a barrier to calculator literacy and its use by providing a set for my students to learn on, check-out as necessary, and then be able to focus on their learning and application...not calculating.
