Mrs. Clair from Charleston SC is requesting Classroom Basics through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Access to Activities: The Key to Collaborating

My students need a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card for variety of pre-made materials to address a vast range of content covering 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade science, social studies, math, and ELA standards.

My Students

My class consists of children age nine to twelve with autism.

A look into my classroom would reveal students working on a variety of skills in small groups or one-on-one with a teacher.

They pay close attention to modeling from adults and complete like activities with prompts until independent. These students thrive on structure, routine, and predictable formats. Their school day includes a mix of academics and daily living skills with a large focus on communication, sensory management, and social skills.

My Project

Addressing a variety of goals and standards in one setting continues to be no easy task. My eight boys each work on making progress on a variety of individual goals each year related to reading, math, social skills, and daily living needs. On top of that, group instruction aligned to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade science and social studies standards teaches the students about important topics like weather, life cycles, earth's materials, the American Revolution, and the Constitution that their general education peers are learning about down the hall.

With so many different lessons to prepare throughout the year, collaborating and material sharing is key to successful lesson planning.

There simply is not enough time in the day to hand make or create the amount of activities to teach such a vast range of skills and content. Teachers Pay Teachers provides quick access to a plethora of print and go activities, craft projects, and work box materials that allow me to purchase materials based on grade and topic to address the many themes or goal needs throughout the year. Your help in purchasing a gift card to the site would allow me more access to activities and free up more of my time to prepare for the delivery of instruction.
