Our 5th grade classroom community is a mixed bunch of high-achieving students to special education students struggling to read. All of us work hard to improve each day, no matter what our current ability levels are. We work together to collaborate and cooperate with anyone.
Whether in the classroom or on the playground, we strive to treat others the way they would like to be treated.
We find ways to solve our problems and are willing to share our mistakes so we can all learn from them.
Students will read their way through the Harry Potter paperback box set, building their vocabulary and reading stamina. Students reading Sharron Creech will learn how reading can be emotional experience while students reading about how the women astronauts were mistreated will be propelled into actions.
My students need quality books in our classroom to become lifelong readers.
Most of my students' families are qualified for free lunch and trips to the book store and the library are usually cut from their weekly routines. This project helps give them access to a future with books, reading and academic success.
