My Students

I am the middle school speech and language pathologist; therefore, many of my students benefit from support to improve their writing, understanding of narratives/articles, ability to present information in a cohesive manner, and vocabulary knowledge or use. Within my sessions, I often try to incorporate what my students are doing in their core classes because I want them to feel successful and complete their assignments with pride. My students are all very capable, hard-working students who find themselves discouraged often because of the way they learn and how it impedes on their ability to access classes in the same way that their peers do. Given the strategies we work on together, I have seen each and every student's true abilities come to light, and with it their positivity.

My Project

My students and I work so much with their class assignments and I end up spending a great deal of time tracking down the information before putting it in front of them because I do not have access to computers that will allow us to complete everything in an efficient 40 minute session, which is all the time we have together. With a Macbook, I can access their work from the apps I use with them to a personal iPad I brought from home. I can have them work on their classwork and access their assignments or vocabulary without the time consuming errors I meet when using a school computer. In addition, each student can work on their individual assignments without having to take turns, and with middle school workloads/content, this is pertinent.
