Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Paper and pencils are not the only way to learn. My special needs students lack the fine motor skills to write like their peers, but still love to write. Writing is the gateway to learning in all subjects and I want to instill this in each one of my students regardless of their disability.
The students I teach love to learn and love their school.
Our school may not have all the latest technology but has the best students. Several of my students have a hard time holding a pencil for a long time, and often struggle during writing time. Although writing is hard for them, they try with all their might to keep up with their peers. I know they would benefit from producing their own work with the right modifications and support in the classroom.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are a Samsung Galaxy Tablet with a case, protection film, charger and USB connector. The Samsung Galaxy tablet will ensure the students with extreme disabilities in my classroom are able to tap the letter they want instead of have to struggling with a pencil to record their thoughts. These resources will also provide actual support with spelling and grammar to support my students as they develop as young writers. Also, my aide will be able to work in small groups to support these students without using my personal computer. The students will learn how to be independent writers and develop self worth. The ability for all children to write is necessary to be successful in school and will build the foundation for all future learning.
The donations requested will ensure that all students have a right to learn with the support they need to be successful.
These students will benefit by being able to keep up with their peers and not fall further behind. All children in my class will have access to learning through touch screen.
