My students need books like It's Okay To Be Different, Autism Is...?,Be Who You Are, along with a few other books that will foster empathy and acceptance for all.
In my classroom, you will find 6 students with autism who are full of joy and excitement for learning. They are developing social skills, but struggle using their words to communicate about curriculum content. All of my students have a unique way of experiencing the world that allows others to learn from them. Our classroom has a rich environment focused on content and learning activities that my students enjoy. My students work hard to be accepted and included in our school. They are encouraged to learn and be successful in every area of school when they participate in our class.
My Project
My students need books like It's Okay To Be Different, Autism Is...?,Be Who You Are, along with a few other books that will foster empathy and acceptance for all. Teaching students about acceptance and empathy is important in today's society. My class has made it a mission to teach every class in our school about empathy and acceptance. These books will allow more students to learn what it means to be different.
Acceptance helps students grow in ways unimaginable!
These books will allow students to learn through books what it means to treat other students with respect. Inclusion lessons will be created to use with these mentor texts. They will allow students with differences to interact and learn with students in general education classes. Students will be encouraged to work together to foster what it truly means to be accepted from all.
