Accelerating Small Group Learning Efficiently and Effectively
My students need a kidney table for small group learning, place value discs for concrete visualization of math concepts, and noise reduction ear muffs for concentration when there is movement and noise while working.
I work in a small charter school that provides an education based on design thinking and problem-solving with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to K-8 students in a very diverse community. Students are encouraged to be creative innovators and problem solvers so they are prepared for success and leadership in our rapidly changing world.
My students are loving, energetic, curious, and very hands on learners, thirsting for knowledge.
They enjoy learning in small groups, active engagement, and instruction that is fun and meaningful. They are very appreciative of activities that are planned for them and enjoy wide varieties of instruction such as technology, hands on games, partner and small group activities, songs and movement, as well as projects that allow them to be creative and innovative.
My students are very diverse in their needs, as I have students with anxiety, emotional/behavioral, attention/focus, and language obstacles to name a few. They are a blessing to me and make me feel so loved and appreciated. They thrive from small groups and one on one instruction, especially in helping them achieve success in areas of weakness.
My Project
My students need a kidney shaped table to meet with me in small groups of six for individualized learning and to help struggling students with areas of weakness one on one. The noise reduction ear muffs will enable students to increase their attention and focus when there is movement and noise as they work. The place value discs will allow students a concrete visual representation to build a better understanding of key concepts and strategies in math, while allowing them to manipulate problems hands on.
Your generosity in donating to our project will help students achieve academic success in a profound way.
