More than three fourths of class come from low income families. This barrier does not stop them from working above and beyond. They are eager to excel in reading, math, and technology assignments. They love presenting assignments to class, even though the classroom only has two working devices, the students know the importance of sharing the devices.
The students always tell me when they get jobs they will purchase devices so that the students will have more access to technology capabilities.
I thank them for being considerate and remind them that they are only 10 and 11 years of age!
My Project
Availability of more devices within our advanced academically gifted class will ensure student accountability for completing assignments in depth. We are requesting two Chromebooks. This will allow students to research, read, and put information into presentation form.
Anyone assisting this class of Title I students will contribute to advancing students by ensuring availability of more than two working devices within the classroom.
The students love typing their papers in Google Docs to share within groups. They love researching science articles, experiments, and new innovations. As a gifted class, they are often asked to integrate science and writing assignments. Writing about their science experiments, matter, and planets reinforces preparation for the state science assessment.
