My school is a K-12 Charter School located outside of Charleston, South Carolina. Our school is filled with students from all different backgrounds and varying abilities. My hope is to provide our hard working NaviGators with an Accelerated Reader Reward after they have read all-year long!
Our Accelerated Reader program is the heart of engaging our K-5 readers with a diverse and wide gage of interest!
This past year, I've seen such a difference in our students in not only their ability to read but their DESIRE to read. I want to tap into that fervor and excitement by rewarding their dedication and reading growth with an Inflatable Water-slide Jump Castle for them to enjoy at the year-end Accelerated Reader Celebration!
LLCS is committed to providing all students a safe and exceptional academic environment that cultivates independent learning, character enrichment, and regional awareness while developing accountable leaders, community stewards, and diverse thinkers through project-based experiences.
My Project
I would like my K-5 students to be able to participate in a Year-End Accelerated Reader Celebration for their growth in their reading development. The reward, a 22-Foot High Inflatable Water Slide, will be the final motivation in our year-long Accelerated Reader Competition. If student's reach their class AR goal, they will get to attend the celebration for one whole hour!
Motivating students to learn and read is part of the challenge, but when students become dedicated readers and learners they can move mountains in their ability and knowledge!
The reading atmosphere at LLCS has had a 180 degree change and I want to reward those students that have attained their goals, while also continuing to motivate readers to achieve their goals before the end of the year.
Our readers deserve to celebrate their hard work and continue to strive for more. I hope this opportunity will provide them with that habit and continue to develop their love for reading!
