Students in my school come from many different backgrounds and experiences. Like our community, our school is incredibly diverse. Many of our students come from families who struggle to make ends meet and typically have limited access to quality enrichment activities. The opportunities we provide can go a long way in encouraging students to explore the joy of reading.
My Project
With these books, students can participate in a motivational reading program called Accelerated Reader. The program teaches students to choose books at their reading level then take online comprehension quizzes. It’s so simple, yet so powerful! Students LOVE to read and earn points for their reading efforts. Students are rewarded with treasure chest prizes for the points they have earned. This gives the students a tangible goal to work towards and keeps them motivated. They are also recognized at an assembly for reaching their reading goals! Most importantly reading is a life-long skill and these books will help foster a love of reading! Please help keep my students motivated to read!
