My students need the pencils and paper to work their accelerated math assignment and the staples and pencil sharpener to aid in completing their work.

A typical day in my classroom is very busy. I would like to see my students performing above grade level in their math skills because math is all around them. Math may not add love or subtract hate, but it gives hope that there is a solution to every problem. I hope they learn more than just math.
I have 25 very energetic little faces that come see me every day.
These children come from a majority of economically challenged backgrounds. In fact, several of my students don't live with their parents, but extended family takes care of them. Our school is comprised of about 500 students and it would be safe to say 3/4 of our population is economically challenged as well. Our students, while not monetarily blessed, are blessed to have the staff at our school to care and want the absolute best for them. These kids face adversity daily and rise to the challenge to meet our expectations.
Accelerated math is a program that pretty much tailors to each child's individual math needs. We assign the child objectives in the computer and then print their first assignment for them. From that point, the children work the problems, mark their answers on scan cards, scan, and the computer then prints them new materials once they complete and scan their assignment. The downside is children go through a lot of copy paper and that's one reason I have requested two boxes. The other side as well, is we go through lots of pencils and those pencils need sharpened as well. I work with groups of students and I usually use some kind of black marker. I love this program because it helps me know where children are in math and I am able to work individually on skills that the child may need help with.
First, having 2 electric pencil sharpeners will help cut down on traffic congesting in one spot to sharpen pencils.
Ensuring that we have these materials will ensure I don't have to continually send notes home almost begging parents to send in materials that they honestly can't afford to go out and buy.
