Help me give my students afterschool snacks for our Academic Challenge Team. I have willing and motivated students who attend practices and travel to compete but they complain of hunger and I can't always grab from my purse.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I am the head coach for Academic Challenge. I have willing and motivated kids who love competing to showcase their knowledge. We have been competing and doing well for a number of years. We are currently going through practices and the start of the season is January.
After spending 8hrs at school with one lunch break plus staying back another hour after school to practice, kids need a snack to satisfy their hunger.
As a result, I have always tried to provide them with an afterschool snack to encourage the time and effort they put into practice times and competing.
Due to kids coming from low income households, I usually take money from my own pocket to fund this initiative. Having an extra snack for practice and also for traveling to compete, will be of great benefit to my challengers!
