My Project
The books chosen have academic relevance to 5th grade and social and cultural importance. I teach at a Title 1 school with a wide range of ethnicities and varied level of learners. The pandemic has caused gaps to be wider than ever before. The math and writing books will help students to focus on necessary skills to be successful learners. The novels will help expand their minds and feel included and welcome in our learning environment. Hopefully, they will see a glimpse of themselves in the books and a vision of others lives they may not have been aware of previously.
