Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first year teacher and my Pre-K class is comprised of 22 awesome students, many of whom come from very low-income households. Each one of my students receive free breakfast and lunch from school and at times, this could possibly be their only meal of the day. Our school is a Title I school and serves students from Pre-K to 5th grade from many diverse backgrounds. Our goal is to prepare our wonderful students for success in school and give them the skills they need to have a prosperous and rewarding life. My classroom is a place of challenge and discovery where my students are eager to explore and learn.
My Project
My students must keep up with the latest in education. Education for Pre-K students is changing every day, and so is the interest of my students. Students in my classroom want to learn to write, learn to read, and to learn about farm and zoo animals, and I want to help them on down this path. I do not have many "learning to read" books in my class, and my Amazon Fire 7 tablets do not have headphones for my students to quietly listen to phonics while I continue to work with others in the class.
