Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from California. What makes them unique is that they are a class of 25 grade 1-3 students learning the common cores of California through the Montessori pedagogy. While they are up to date with their common cores, they do need more focus on reading. I am a new teacher to this school and the current state of our school and classroom library is immensely limited. I am asking for your help to revamp our classroom library with new, interesting and thought provoking books that will encourage my students to actually want to read.
My Project
With the help of new books my students will learn to love reading. This will improve their communication, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and so many more language skills. Currently, about 3 out of 25 of my students read on a regular basis.
With a revamped library students will be more interested in reading based on their interests.
My hope is to be able to target all of my learners interests through books.
The new packages of books I am asking for include books with variety of styles, topics, and interests that will encourage the learners to pick up a new book every day.
