Abstract Concepts Illustrated With a Document Camera
Help me give my students the gift of visual learning with a document camera. I do not have a writing service for my projector images so it makes it very difficult illustrate abstract concepts for my students.
I am the proud teacher of 150 students who are the perfect representation of a Title I middle school. My students range in every area of growth and development imaginable.
I have students who come from homes with involved, educated, concerned parents, and I have students who have more instability at home than any child ever should.
My students know that our classroom is a safe space for learning and taking risks without fear or judgment.
I have students who read at high school levels sitting beside and working collaboratively with students struggling with elementary vocabulary. However their differences make our school proud and a great place to grow as a learner!
My Project
My students are just starting our newest unit on economics, and currently students are graphing supply curves, demand curves, and market clearing data before moving on to tracking trade routes and paths that allow countries to trade for goods and resources.
Without a white board to write on, it makes it very difficult to illustrate abstract concepts or to lead a guided lesson using handouts to help my students practice and apply their learning.
A document camera would also allow students to share their work and learning with their classmates so that all students feel successful and a sense of ownership of their education.
