Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
NHE is a little hidden gem in Dallas, Texas where our students are extremely hard workers who want to better themselves on a daily basis. My students typically come from families where their parents and siblings have not attended college. My students want to be the first individual in their family to attend college, as well as help their families any way possible! This group of students face many challenges that elementary students should not have to experience at a young age, but they do not let these difficult times stop them from pursuing an education. Every student in my school deserves the absolute best, and that's what we aim to provide on a daily basis. We are a family who have each other's backs. We give back to our community and we believe in one another. We are the Hawthorne Hive!
My Project
Alphabet and number flash cards will make a difference in student learning because students will have access to individual materials that they can utilize from home. Furthermore, foundational skills will be reinforced and practiced in the home environment as each student will have their personal materials.
Students will demonstrate growth in letter and number recognition as they have the opportunity to practice on a daily basis.
To reinforce this, student names will be entered in a drawing at the end of the school year once they recognize their letters, sounds, and number correspondence.
