I teach the 3-5 life skills class. I also have a couple of 2nd grade students, we moved up early. I teach kids with special needs, and the majority have a form of autism. My students are bright and mostly well behaved. They have such amazing personalities; you cannot help but love them.
In our room abilities outweigh disabilities, and we strive to cultivate more abilities in our children everyday.
I teach my students that in our class we are family. We work hard, play hard and love another. We cheer each other on and are excited for each others progress.
My Project
I have started using guided reading and guided math in my classroom this year. They seem to be very effective methods for reaching my students at their current level and moving forward. The only thing is we could use some extra materials to help us learn.
I am hoping that the materials selected will help my students grow as readers and mathematicians.
My students are all on different levels academically, and it can sometimes be challenging to have the materials to best help every student. I have selected a range of reading materials that will help the students trying to learn the alphabet (the Leap Frog Scribbler) and those trying to reach higher levels of reading (the CVC flashcards and Scholastic little leveled books). The math materials, like the Gallon Measurement Set and Make a Splash Floor Mat, will help to make math more visual for my students.
