Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, all of the materials in my classroom were destroyed! Please help us rebuild and become even better than ever!!!
I teach PPCD which stands for Preschool Programs for Students with Disabilities.
This is a program for children ages 3-5 who have significant disabilities. Students in my classroom are diagnosed with autism, intellectual disability, speech impairment, other health impairments and more. These students are also economically disadvantaged and do not have access to many of the resources that would help them be successful. Each day we strive to learn basic concepts which are crucial to their academic success. These skills must be taught, repeated and practiced a great deal before they are ingrained. Even though they face significant challenges my students are cheerful, funny and hardworking! It would bring me such joy to see their faces light up when they receive these new materials!
My Project
My students are going to LOVE learning using these fun materials that will be coming their way! In our class we love to read, especially BIG BOOKS which the students can all see in circle time and help to turn the pages. These fun big books will make our circle time and story time much more fun!
During language/literacy time we practice speaking and learning new words. The toys that I have requested will aid my students in learning these new words in a fun way, through play! We are also working vigorously to learn to learn letters and letter sounds. The numerous letter manipulatives and games I requested will help the students learn these crucial skills in a way that is developmentally appropriate!
In Math we are focusing on learning how to count, sort and create patterns. The manipulatives I ordered will help students to learn to count fun objects and sort them using colorful bowls!
Finally, in art my students favorite thing to do is PAINT and we have hardly any paint to do this with
This project will enhance the quality of education for all of the students currently enrolled in my PPCD classroom.
These resources with help students learn numerous VITAL skills such as language, math, reasoning and social skills. Please choose to help fund my project. With your help, we can improve these crucial skills in my PPCD students at a young age which will improve their quality of life for a lifetime! Thank you for your support!
