Help me give my students Jumbo Magnetic Multiplication Array and Magnetic Blends Word Building Board so that I can help build their reading and math skills.

My students come to school eager to learn something new each day. They are an energetic group of first graders. They have an inquisitive nature that keeps me smiling. What I love about them is that they are thirsty for knowledge at such a young age.
They are constantly asking questions which lets me know they are deep thinkers.
They really enjoy working in groups. My students this year have a natural tendency to teach and learn from each other while working on various tasks. I wouldn't change anything about them!
Reading and Math are the foundation of everything we learn. Without an understanding of words and numbers, students are destined to have difficulty in every subject area. The start of good literacy involves being able to understand how sounds are enunciated and come together to form words, then sentences. It is the same with math. Being able to manipulate numbers to add, subtract, multiply, divide while utilizing manipulatives is the building block to understanding story problems and solving complex number problems. Reading, Writing, Phonics and Math skills are embedded in every task of our lives.
Enticing my young learners with these reading and math activities from Lakeshore Learning is exactly what I need as a tool to keep their minds engaged and develop their basic skills.
I am extremely excited and eager to use the Jumbo Multiplication Array. I plan on modeling how to use counters to represent a multiplication problem and show how this process is the same as repeated addition. Once I see that my little firsties are starting to grasp the concept they will be able 'teach the class' how to multiply simple problems by themselves. I'm going to leave the jumbo array up on the board to be used as a math center. From there the students will be able to see that we can use multiplication in daily tasks like figuring out how many prizes in total each student can have if given two prizes each and so on. With your contribution to my project, my students will be able to build upon the foundation they presently have. Please help me to see my dream of improving my students math and reading skills come true!
