Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 3 to 5 years old and have a variety of special needs. They come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and enter my classroom with a variety of experiences. They go to school on an elementary public school campus in Southern California.
My students are wonderful, sweet, and affectionate.
Each one is as unique as their special needs. My students deserve the best the world has to offer, and, with your help, I want to give it to them!
My Project
Alphabet awareness is the foundation for a lifetime of literacy skills. Learning those skills through play builds a love for literacy that will never go away. With these items, my class will learn alphabet awareness through play dough, water play, sensory building activities and utilizing key emerging pre-writing skills.
These activities, presented in small group instructional centers will allow each child in the class to develop literacy skills at his or her own pace as they use their own set of materials.
Learning the alphabet through play and repetition could be one of the greatest accomplishments of a young learners life!
