I teach kindergarten at Albany Lower Elementary. I have been teaching for 21 years and have seventeen students in my class. We live in very poor rural community with no industries to support our people. Money is very limited. Many of the children in our community come to school without anything. I would like to have a new printer, digital camera, and additional supplies for my students. The children in my class will work with a teacher's helper and create an ABC Class Book. This makes a beautiful documentation of the level they can work at. The problem is that the printer on my computer is outdated and needs to be replaced because it takes 10 minutes for each paper to print. Not only is my computer slow but also many times the children do not have the supplies to complete their project. They do not have any pencils, crayons, scissors, glue, or construction paper. They do not have any zipper bags/storage boxes to keep their supplies in. I end up buying the supplies they need out of my own pocket. I would also like to have a digital camera for my classroom. With a digital camera I could take this project one-step further by taking their picture and placing the picture on their work. The digital camera could also be used to record school wide activities as well as parental involvement at our school. Many precious moments can be captured and kept in a portfolio as evidence that goals were accomplished. Thank you for this opportunity for this grant. We very much appreciate your consideration and hope that you will fund this grant for our school to buy the extra supplies, computer printer, and digital camera. Again, we are a poor school and many of our parents consider these items to be a luxury because they cannot afford them themselves. These items will be greatly appreciated and used for many years to come.
