Everyday I get to come to school with my amazing students. Twenty-eight students with different backgrounds and stories to tell; amazing stories you can only get a from a 5-year old!
Our differences create a positive classroom environment where each student feels comfortable to make mistakes and try their hardest.
We are young, yet we are learning to support each other in a variety of ways by helping, communicating, and understanding each other. Being a classroom family and cheering for each other is what makes our class special!
Our school is a Title I urban school with a diverse population, serving free or reduced-price lunch to over 80% of our students. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars where expectations are the same every day. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun.
My class is a transitional kindergarten class. We are full of energy and love to move. My goal this year is to encourage social and developmental play along with learning rotations. This will keep our class engaged and learning.
The alphabet teaching tubs, stamps, magnetic writing board, light table tracing tiles, and stencils will encourage writing and art in one fun activity.
The use of manipulatives will enhance problem solving skills as well as socialization. The magnatiles, building blocks, sensory kit, and sand will help develop fine motor skills.
Along with the previous materials we will also need the dry erase markers, erasers, and pencil boxes to engage in fundamentally appropriate writing activities. The couch will create a warm and inviting space for my students to play, learn, and grow.
