ABC-Always Be Clean DEF-Digest & Energize with Food

Help me give my students the basic supplies and treats for good health, good hygiene and incentives as some of them can't afford the bare necessities such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, and snacks to keep them clean energized!

My Project

I love teaching health standards to five 4th grade classes! That's a total of 90 kids! Each of them is unique, yet all of them are equally wonderful. One of the health standards is to "Identify appropriate goal-setting strategies to set personal health goals" and another one is to "Describe the relationship between health behaviors and well-being."

I know that when children look and feel good about themselves they will perform better in school by being more confident and alert.

Research has shown that there's a direct link between our well-being and our physical health. Poor mental and physical health and well-being impacts our ability to fight off chronic diseases and make healthy choices. Put simply, when our well-being starts to suffer, our physical health declines as well.

I teach at a Title I elementary school where half of our school population receives free or reduced-price lunch. Family funds are extremely limited, so my students do not always have the basic resources for good personal hygiene and refreshments at recess. I want to be able to provide these incredible children with essential hygienic products such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, a variety of snacks and a microwave to provide hot meals to maintain a well-balance life.

My students are so appreciative of even the smallest things. Like all children, they deserve the very best. I cannot provide these products for them working alone. This is why I'm reaching out to you, the gracious donors of Donors Choose!
