Our students live mostly in rural areas. The town itself is very small and so is our county. We are a close-knit community and know most of our students and their families. Many families have jobs in nursing, teaching, and construction. We live a happy, simple, small-town life in our little area. Many enjoy the simple pleasures of fishing, camping, the joys of playing outside, and just being a kid climbing a tree and running around in the yard. Our classroom is made up of kindergartners that are usually 5 or 6 years old. There is usually a wide range in learning ability, some need extra “special” help while others may need one-on-one attention to learn. We have students that are right in the middle or able to read already. No matter the learning ability they are always willing and ready to help their friend out in work or play. Kindergarten is very learning diverse but we love it, making certain they learn and enjoy every second of what kindergarten has to offer them. Our community is not rich in money but rich in friendship. We appreciate all your donations to our classroom.
My Project
We have a pretty good library in our classroom but we have fallen short on a few holidays. As we put out our books for each month we make a list of books needed. Some book are favorites and need to be replaced because they’ve been read a millions times. Sometimes we just don’t have very many of some themes or holidays.
We also do creative journals and crafts for certain stories and are in need of a new glue gun and crafting or stem supplies that support the stories.
Students really light up when they get to create a craft that relates to a story they’ve just read. They really love being creative and bringing their ideas to life through journaling and or building a stem project. Our favorite way to support a story is to give them a table of craft supplies or legos and ask them as a small group to work together and create something related to their book. They love it and it really gets the kiddos more involved in reading. Thank you in advance for supporting our classroom.
