Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten to 26 of the sweetest, most loving, caring, and smartest 5-year-old kids. They love coming to school to learn and to be part of something special. I strive each day to make each day the best ever.
My favorite thing about teaching kindergarten is that every day is a new day, and they are so full of wonder!
I've taught at the same school for the past years, and it is the same school I attended as a child. Every year I am given the best class and this year is no exception! I call them my Rockstars, and I hope that they know how much I love having them in my class!
My Project
This year I would love to give my Kindergarten students an array of books to listen to during story time. I specifically looked for books that would promote kindness, empathy and diversity. It is my goal to read aloud to my students daily after lunch time. We will call it Magic Time because books are magical! I love to read to my students, but I want to add to our library books that are meaningful and fun at the same time.

I found this quote on the internet with no one to give credit to, but this is my belief. I love to read and hope to instill that love to them also. These books will help to encourage kindness in my class and to others outside of our class by our example. I selected books on empathy and hope to teach them to make good choices even when it is difficult. I picked books on diversity because I want to open the world to my students outside of our little town. These books will be available to the students in our special bookcase and be rotated every couple of weeks after the teacher reads them to the class.
