Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in an inner-city school where 90% of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. This upcoming school year I will be teaching ELA to first and second-grade students. The building I teach in has recently opened as a charter school that serves students K-8. As a result, the uniformity of supplies is limited.
I want my students to know the importance of reading, but I do not have the materials necessary to reach their full potential.
I want my students to always feel eager to grab a book and read.
My Project
The books that I chose will help students become independent readers. Many of the books have a special message that will also help them with character building. One of the bundles is about showing kindness, which will help my students know more about what it means to be kind.
With a variety of books, my students will be able to engage in independent reading.
They will be able to choose books that interest them. In order to increase their reading ability, my students must read more. These books will help them grow stronger in reading.
