My Students

Though my art students love creating art about snow, their winter dream is not to see a snowy miracle in warm Florida-they hope and dream to make ceramic pottery. Every week the students ask when we will start using clay to make ceramics, which is why we need a kiln for our school.

Our school is designated a high poverty, Title I school.

In our school, the arts are supported and encouraged. Our students have an exceptional aptitude for creating, and a desire to explore and enhance their world through art. We have our own art room, and a room that is capable of supporting a kiln.

My Project

Having our own school kiln will allow us to expand our art program by providing our students with the opportunity to create their own 3-D ceramic works of art. Working with clay and making ceramics is an artistic experience that is not only vital in art classes, it symbolizes a magical and important experience to these students.

Using a kiln to make ceramics will give these art students another creative means of succeeding and building confidence through art.

The addition of a kiln to our art program would mean the world to these students and this school. Please help us to fulfill our winter wish of owning our own school kiln.
