This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are putting on a production of Disney's Aladdin. The show will include singers, dancers, and actors from 3rd to the 8th grade. The students come to each rehearsal with a sense of excitement, wonder, and expectation as they learn what is involved in the process of creating a show. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Even with the economic challenges they face, my students will not let that stop them from learning and growing. They are excited about this production.

We are motivated to create a spectacular performance for the community. Our show runs May on our very own stage. Through this experience, students are finding confidence, pride, and deepening friendships and self-awareness. The play connects students to our world and community, all while showcasing the creativity and talent of the students.
My Project
We are working toward building sets, costumes, and using the props to recreate the play "Aladdin." We have been practicing our lines, place sets, animated movements, and being in character. They are learning how to engage in drama as well as learn that nothing needs to be perfect as long as the audience is enjoying the show. We need costume supplies for these hard-working leaders. My students are making a lot of their own props, but we need community support.
I believe education is incomplete without the arts.
The theater has the power to teach empathy, collaboration, confidence, and creativity among many other things. Please help me to give my students the best start to a drama program as possible. This is a wonderful and deserving community that would be forever thankful
