My students and I are so excited about learning this year! I am hoping to keep them engaged by providing authentic, creative, and meaningful learning experiences. An integral part of their learning in first grade is reading a variety of texts. Students will learn reading strategies to decode words as well as strategies to help with oral and written comprehension.
All of my students have the desire to learn and my goal is to help them achieve excellence in learning by providing books that help teach cultural awareness, empathy, and foster a global love in their hearts through children's books.
I am a teacher who strives to ensure that all students are provided with a rigorous and personalized education that will prepare them to be life-long learners and contributing members in a global society. Help our eager first graders become global leaders!
My Project
I am proud that my class will be participating in a project called the Global Read Aloud of 2018! Our class as well as other teachers and students from around the world will be reading the same books such as My Heart Fills with Happiness, Wild Berries, A Day with Yayah, When We Were Alone (and many more) as read alouds. My class will correspond with other first grade classrooms from all over our country and around our world! We will use technology to share our reading experiences with other first grade students specifically from New York, New Jersey, Illinois, North Carolina, Canada, and South Korea!

This opportunity that I am providing my students will help them facilitate their reading connections and conversations while listening to fantastic read alouds and connecting with other first graders from around the world!
