Reading a new book is like going on a new adventure. Students leap at the chance to explore fresh pages hereto unseen by their inquiring eyes. Do you remember the excitement of diving into a new book in a series you love? Or how about realizing that author you love to read writes another series?
Students here are eager learners and enthusiastic readers; they are kind, creative, full of wonder and primed to build life-long reading habits.
As the English Language Arts for the entire sixth grade, I know it is important to foster my students' readership by creating a high-interest library. We have time devoted to reading each day in class and nightly reading as well. Our classroom library is nearly non-existent at a sad eleven books. Please help this fabulous set of students succeed in sixth with a diverse classroom library.
My Project
We will dive into new adventures with a classroom library that supports a love of reading. I am striving to build a print-rich classroom that fosters a love of the written word.
Every book that arrives in our bookshelf will surely work its way into a student's heart.
My students will be thankful to have the opportunity to explore new stories and learn new facts with this inclusive selection of texts that will allow them to read at their own grade and interest level.
Like any skill, the only way to become a better reader is to practice and these books will infuse our independent reading time with excitement and wonder.
