Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Having access to material is important but the way the material is presented to students is crucial. The difference between printing in black and white and color truly impacts student engagement.
My third grade students are always amazing!!
They are kind, sweet and work hard everyday. My school is a full inclusion school, which means we provide an education to ALL students. We are a kindergarten through eight grade school. Many of the students at my school speak multiple languages and English is not the primary language. There are students on Individual Education Plans (IEP) for academic and or behavioral needs. In order to support the range of learners at our school, teachers have to think creatively about how material is presented to the students. The students at this school show our five school values everyday. Those values are caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and academic excellence.
My Project
The materials that we are requesting are a wireless colored printer with a few extra ink cartridges. The materials will be shared between three third grade classrooms. A total of about 60 students. The printer will be used to print material that supplements our Reading curriculum. It will be used on a daily basis to enhance all of the learning the students are part of throughout the day. The students will also be able to use the printer to print material that they may need for writing, reading or math projects.
The level of student engagement will increase if teachers are able to put material in front of them that has been printed in color.
As a teacher it is our job to increase student engagement and this is not always possible if material is always presented to students in black and white! We appreciate all donors for helping to make a difference in a child's education!
