Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are energetic, curious, and eager to experience new things. That is why I am so happy to announce they been selected by Disney Music in Schools to preform their very own musical! This is a brand new opportunity for these students and they are so excited to have this experience.
My students are ready to experience a "Whole New World" of singing, dancing, and acting.
We are a Title 1 school in Florida, where 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch each day. Our students come from many diverse backgrounds and have many diverse needs and abilities. This includes students learning English, gifted students as well as ESE students. These students are extremely passionate about the arts and don't often have the opportunity to experience fine arts in their personal lives. We are all very excited to start this tradition of performing at Central Avenue Elementary School.
My Project
My students will be performing Disney's "Aladdin" with the help of Disney Music in Schools. This will be the first musical performed at Central Avenue Elementary.
While rehearsing and performing students will learn to work as a team as they strive for a common goal, all while creating a new sense of community among the cast and crew.
In order to have the best possible performance they need many new supplies. Our stage in the cafeteria is going to look incredible once we create sets and props, but we need paint and paintbrushes to transform it to the streets of Agrabah and to go on a Magic Carpet Ride in the sky. We know the students are going to sound amazing! Therefore, we need the wireless microphones so that even the people on the very back row can hear the Genie singing "Friend Like Me." Speaking of the Genie, we will need face paint and fabrics to create his and other charters costumes and makeup to help them look as magical as ever.
We hope you will all get to come enjoy "Aladdin" this May!
