I spend my days working with 17 amazing preschoolers from many different walks of life. All of my students are from the inner city, and everyone of them qualifies for free lunch. Many of them have single parent households, and a few are foster children.
Most of the children I teach are struggling to get their basic needs met, so to them school has become a safe place where they know they will get a warm meal.
Although they face many hardships most of us can't even imagine, they come to school every day with a smile on their faces ready to give 100%.
My Project
The students in my classroom will love getting the opportunity to explore the different manipulatives in a fun, hands-on sort of way that will help them understand the concepts they are being taught in the classroom.
Having the opportunity to work hands-on with the different manipulatives on the light table will help my students grasp the concepts in a way that makes sense to them.
The light table and accessories are something that will be used daily in our classroom. They will help with math skills, literacy skills, and social skills. The sets of manipulatives include everything from dominoes to shapes to letters. The children can use these for counting, fine motor manipulation, letter recognition, and many other things. These are all skills that will help build a foundation for lifelong learning.
