Help me give my students canvases and brushes to create art for a special museum exhibit.
We are a neighborhood school in the middle of our city's art district. I am so excited to be the very first art teacher at our school! As I am in the process of setting up our new art room, I have been using my creativity to create a lot of art opportunities with a small amount of resources.
My students are fearless explorers of their creativity.
Our choice-based art classroom is a space where they can take risks and try new things. Students respond to art challenges by choosing the art supplies and subject for their artwork.
Our school has a long-standing partnership with the San Antonio Museum of Art. Every student at our school, Pre-K through 5th grade, gets to visit the museum each year and make a special piece of artwork inspired by their visit.
We have been invited to install a school-wide art display at the museum this year!
Our students will be creating artwork inspired by the museum's exhibit "Capturing the Moment: Photographs from the Marie Brenner and Ernest Pomerantz Collection." This collection of artwork deals with themes of war, conflict and rural/urban landscapes. After learning about the history surrounding these photographs, our students will create their own painting as a response.
I am so excited for our students to get to see their artwork hanging in the San Antonio Museum of Art. I want every single artist at our school to have their artwork included. These small canvases mean that each child will be represented in our display. And a new set of brushes will give them the confidence to create incredible art for this exciting opportunity!
