This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very sweet and hard-working. They come from homes that do not have much. Most of my students come from homes that have single mothers raising them. These single mothers usually work several part-time jobs to get by. Most of these students come to school at 6:30 a.m. in the before school program and stay until about 5:30 p.m. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at school. Even though these students have tough challenges in their lives, they still make the most of their day and put forth their best effort. They truly want to excel in school and in life. These students deserve to have all the opportunities that others have despite their daily challenges.
My Project
The variety of reading materials will enhance the students' interests.
They will find that the new books and magazines will be new and exciting information for them.
It will be interesting to see them want to choose new and exciting books. They will be able to explore the reading area and decide for themselves what they want to read. Students can read individually, or with a partner. We will also read as a whole group.
It is important for students to explore different types of reading material. The students can think about what they are reading and apply it to their own lives.
