My students are in preschool with autism. I teach in a Title I school, which means there is a high number of economically disadvantaged children. Even though my students have many obstacles they try very hard to do their best.
My students would benefit from a variety of resources to help increase their success in our newly established social distance learning.
They will need to wear masks and be 6 feet apart from others. This will need to become a normal part of their classroom for this year. I will need resources to provide individual use and not shared. My caseload includes a wide variety of students with unique needs and the cutest personalities!
Providing my students with individual material during this time of COVID-19 will be important for their success of our in person teaching during this time. We all learn by doing and watching.
My Project
While we typically focus on increasing each student's ability to share with one another, COVID-19 has forced us to restrict toy use to one child at a time. This helps us decrease the likelihood that students will contract the virus, however it also means we need more toys. Having a variety of extra toys like additional puzzles and more toys for fine motor use means we will have options to pull from when our other toys are waiting to be washed between students. Teaching preschool means you need a variety of developmental needs. These materials can be used for sending home if we need to change to remote learning.
