Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At MCHS at LCC we urge all students to make the very best out of our unique academic opportunity. Our Early College program offers students the rare opportunity to take college courses while they are still in high school.
Enrolling in MCHS gives students not only the opportunity to graduate from high school, but can also earn enough college credits to enter a four-year university as a sophomore or junior.
Students who work hard and take full advantage of this beautiful opportunity can graduate with an Associate Degree if they choose to remain in the fifth year of our Early College program. This means that our students walkout of the door and enter the real world with skills unmatched by many high school graduates and head starts on options for their career choices.
My Project
I am working to expand real world situations into my 21st Century classroom. The goal is to allow students to observe what we learn in class in real world, up to the minute situations. By receiving this TV and using a pre-purchased Amazon Firestick, we can access apps that allows students to explore in the moment while keeping students updated on current events.
With this TV, instead of talking about what impacts stock prices, we can turn on CNBC or Fox Business and talk about what is happening in the moment and how it impacts stocks of interest to them.
When teaching Participation in Government, our students learn about how a bill becomes a law and the roles of our President. Now we can turn on CSPAN and see government in action or even the political bias one may see from one news network to another.
