This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very special to me. They were and still are my lifeline after my spouse passed away. They keep me motivated by being the bright smile that I need on a daily basis. I love the look on their faces when they learn something new through song and dance. Many of these students are from single-parent homes and receive free or reduced lunch. They deserve to have fun and view school as a safe haven filled with love and support.

Math 24 is an annual district competition.
It encourages participants to use four digits to add, subtract, multiply, or divide to equal 24. The first participant to orally say the equations collets the point. The school winner goes to district to compete with other students. The snacks will reward students for their participation in fact fluency. Even though some students will give incorrect responses, I want each one to receive a token for their participation. Research states that children will strive at higher rates when rewarded. Children love snacks. Sometimes they need that extra incentive to motivate them to push harder. I want to be the sunshine in these little kid's faces. They need to know that Math is fun and rewarding.
