This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Character is the backbone of our human culture, and music is the flowering of character" quote by Confucius. I hope to bring different cultures into our music program to strengthen all areas of the curricula.
I teach choral and instrumental music to 4th through 8th grade at our public charter school.
Music improves creativity and cultivates many skills that will continue to be useful to children throughout their lives. Studies have shown that music enhances: concentration, coordination, relaxation, patience and self confidence. My hope is to improve children's knowledge of geography, build their tolerance of diverse cultures, and expand their awareness as up-and-coming global citizens.
My Project
I am requesting a Meini Bodhran drum to enrich and emerge knowledge of a different culture into our music program. The music will instill an appreciation for and understanding of notable instruments, vocal styles, and popular compositions from another country. I will weave history into what the student is receiving in their main lesson to broaden their learning experience.
Music education with a multicultural mindset allows us to deepen students' knowledge and helps them to feel for the ways in which music is deeply social, cultural, ideological, and personal.
I feel very blessed to be a music teacher and do something that I truly love to do.
I will be very grateful for any help you may give my students! Please help us for the love of children and to feel the beat!
