My preschoolers come from a variety of backgrounds. Located in a diverse town, our classroom is made up of several cultures and needs. Thirty-eight percent of my class has special needs ranging from autism to developmental delays.
We practice mindfulness on a daily basis to increase our empathy and kindness.
We also care for our class pets, Gus Gus and Jaq (pet mice), to learn about responsibility! We love to have visits from animals and anyone who can help us learn and grow!
We have math and literacy nights for families to help bridge learning to home and also have had a morning of mindfulness complete with yoga and even a therapy dog! Family involvement is crucial to our classroom's success!
My Project
In this twenty-first century learning environment, my students will use the interactive projector to learn basic skills and connect with their world through a technological approach.
Interactive lessons will keep students engaged and excited to learn.
Students can ask questions that can lead to topic exploration by the touch of a button.
We will used this projector for whole group instruction by projecting lessons on a wall, but will also use table top projection to create centers or small groups to focus on targeted learning skills. This type of technology promotes collaboration, problem solving and higher order thinking: skills that are necessary for a young child to acquire.
Language barriers can be broken with translation options and interactive games and activities can be catered to students with developmental delays.
With your donations, my classroom can have access to discussions and opportunities they never imagined possible. We can expand our imaginations while using futuristic technology.
