This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a first year teacher responsible for a huge testing grade, I want to make sure my students have any resources they need to be successful learners in my classroom. My students are part of a low income community with little to no home life support. I want to be the sense of home for them when they come to school. My students will have the ability to feel important, loved, taken care of, and respected by not only me as their teacher but also their peers.
My Project
My students come from a low income area where most don’t enter with supplies requiring that I buy them on my own. I have already gone through 2 rounds of supplies out of my own pocket and cold season hasn’t hit yet. We use Clorox wipes to keep our areas clean and to wipe off our desks after we use manipulative such as dry erase markers to practice our word problems! I provide my students with snacks and ensure they’re hands are sanitized before they consume any food. My students love doing hands on activities where they can write and explore and having the necessary cleaning materials will ensure we can keep them moving!
