Our students are very diverse; made up of many different personalities who all enjoy having fun and learning at the same time.
Our school is a Title I school.
The students who attend are mainly from low-income families. It is also quite large, in fact we are the largest elementary school in our district, housing grades Pre-K through 5th.
We are a great BIG family and all share the same mission, which "is to meet the social, emotional, physical and educational needs of all students, enabling them to become life-long learners and productive members of society."
My Project
Having books readily available for student to access and manage independently will help develop stronger, more independent readers in our third grade classroom. My students are very blessed to have a wide variety of books to choose from for daily reading. However, storage space is limited and many of our books are unable to be displayed or made available to students due to lack of storage.
My students need plastic book bins to make storing books on our classroom shelves more organized and accessible.
Students will have better access to them for read to self, silent reading, early finisher work, and for small group activities.
