My Students

Our 5th graders are amazing mentors and buddies to the Kindergarten students. They are beautiful role models for the younger children. During remote learning 2020 they have all been strong. This is their last year in elementary school.

My Project

My 5th-grade students are experiencing history during this extraordinary time. I want to use this unprecedented time for a writing assignment called a Memoir of Today & Tomorrow.

We are requesting a magnolia tree, paper, envelopes and small wood storage trunk.

As a social event, celebrating school community, friends, and perseverance, we will have a tree-planting ceremony on school grounds. The planting of a spring blossoming tree, a ground plaque, and a time capsule with our written memoirs will mark this time in history. We will regather seven years from this school year when the fifth graders graduate from high school in 2027 to open the time capsule and remember a time when we all had resilience.
