Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are fifteen bright and energetic kiddos in a public preschool in Chicago. We are currently learning virtually. Virtual learning has given us the opportunity to meet our students, as well as our classroom families. The partnership between home & school has shown us that our class is diverse in culture, interests, and abilities. One thing is for certain, we are all excited to meet each day to learn new skills, feed our curiosity, and explore our world together!
My Project
Although students are working from home, it is important to provide access to targeted skills work. Rhyming and number Bingo games will allow teachers to meet with small groups and ensure that everyone is on the path to kindergarten.
Having access to hands on materials such as Legos, pattern blocks, unifix cubes, and paper for painting means that the students can regularly share their work with their peers.
Our diverse learners will be able to express their ideas through constructing buildings, measuring items with cubes, and expressing their creativity through paintings. Since the materials are open ended, they can be used to further our access to math, literacy, science, and more. The sky's the limit!
