My Students

My 6th grade science and geography classroom is always buzzing with interesting and relevant questions. My 6th graders are constantly asking to dive deeper into the curriculum, especially in those areas that are most relevant to them.

The students in my classroom are always up for a challenge.

They love to push each other, as well as myself, to new levels of achievement. Together we try, fail, learn, and succeed!

My students give me great hope for the future. They are the creators, debaters, travelers, and dreamers that our world needs as we move towards the unknown. With these students at the helm, I truly believe we have great times ahead!

My Project

Gone are the days of rote memorization in the geography classroom! While those basic skills are still important and provide a strong foundation, today's students need to see these concepts in action! The addition of a weekly magazine such as TIME for Kids in our classroom will not only improve non-fiction reading skills, but provide students with high interest stories from across the globe.

The sooner we can shift the idea of simply learning geography into doing geography, the better!

These subscriptions will not only give students access to high-quality printed materials, it will also give them the opportunity to go online to interact with each other and students from across the globe. TIME for Kids presents students with real-world problem solving, showing them that we are not just citizens of our own country, but of the world.
