Although coming from a low-income/high poverty area, my students are some of the best around. They are so eager to learn and grow into high achieving young people. Each day when they walk in my classroom, they are ready to learn without hesitation and enrich themselves into the knowledge that I can give to them. Many of my students home lives are very unstable and it is my job to make them feel secure and important.
By creating a positive and safe environment for my students, they can strive to reach the unexpected and become more than what they see in their everyday lives.
Because many of my students either live in a single parent home, mixed family home, or live with other family relatives, I am hoping this donation will inspire my students and lead them down a path of academic improvement and excellence. With the help of this donation, my students will be able to grow into more active and progressive learners.
To spark the interest in my students, we (as a class) have decided that we need DynaMath Magazines to enhance our learning in mathematics. As an educator, I have personally seen these magazines used in the classroom and have experienced the growth students achieve when working through these magazines.
DynaMath magazines are a fun and engaging resource which provides a much needed link between the math that is taught in school and the events that are taking place all around us in the "real world".
With this connection between real world events and mathematics, students are able to answer the big question "where in the real world would I use the math I am learning in class?" With this resource, my students will not only be learning about math, but will also tie in reading curriculum for advanced and struggling readers. To be able to connect the two content would be a game-changer in my classroom.
